Traveling on

On to the village of Ardee, but first...

We visited the Stone of Cuchullainn, said to be at the site of this legendary hero's death.

The Stone was guarded by a herd of curious cows who frightened some of the other pilgrims.  I spent some time on relatives' farms when young and have no particular fear in that direction, so I took charge of keeping them at bay.  Never thought of cows or bulls as beautiful or myth-worthy, but this free-roaming crowd of bovine pulchritude changed my perspective on that.  They really were gorgeous animals, and they kept their distance as requested.

After our encounter with the Stone and its denizens, we headed onward to the village of Knockbridge.

The Knockbridge church is noted for its stained glass window of Brigid as Maiden.

 Onward to Ardee Town

The beautiful Boyne River.
